We are delighted to share some of our recent press from The Wall Street Journal and San Francisco Chronicle.

“One of the most famous vineyards in California is home to two grapes,” Lettie Teague announces of Garys’ Vineyard in The Wall Street Journal (4/20/17). Wine columnist and winner of the James Beard MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award, Teague foregrounds our recently-released Syrah as part of her discussion of this “terrific” yet underrated varietal being produced in the Santa Lucia Highlands. “Syrah has yet to attain the star status of Pinot Noir. With so many excellent, food-friendly American Syrahs available, it’s time that changed.”

In a May 25 article for the Journal, she professes: “The Pisoni family runs what may be the most famous vineyard in Santa Lucia Highlands.” This region, she adds, offers “refreshingly unpretentious producers, really good wines and incredible views.”

Closer to home in the San Francisco Chronicle, Bryce Wiatrak spotlights Pisoni and Lucia Vineyards by leading off his June 2nd article, “Santa Lucia Highlands: Pinot Noir on the edge,” by naming our 2014 Lucia Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir one which “demonstrates the appellation in its most hedonistic form.” Our lean soils tend naturally to possess higher tannin levels, he points out, which helps us create “wines with more robust flavor.” “You may have to redefine what California Pinot Noir means when tasting from the Santa Lucia Highlands,” he concludes. “But that’s also what makes these wines so exciting. They transcend the threshold of ripeness we imagine for Pinot Noir without sacrificing freshness.”
